Mackie's First Haircut

When I finally get ready and prepared to cut one of our children's hair, it is usually a momentous occasion. I have my camera ready and I take a lock of their hair to keep. I usually shed some tears and Jim usually makes off-the-wall comments. This time......Mackie's first haircut was nothing I wanted to remember. It was done while I was at work by her sister, Jordan. Jim called me and told me what had happened. I expected the worst and that is pretty much what I saw. Jordan had taken a side section of her hair and whacked it off. She also took 2 sections on top and cut them less than a half of and inch from her scalp. She looks like the lead singer of "A Flock of Seagulls".
I was so devastated and I know, "It is just hair", but there is just something about it that is so hard to explain. I guess it is somewhat because Mackenzie didn't start growing hair until she was 2, and then she had ringlets of very fine hair. I have been pulling her hair up on the sides and it seems unnoticeable to most. However, I just frustratingly wonder.......how long until it grows back?

First Post and Jim's Birthday

I am not sure why I decided to start my blog on my husband's birthday, I guess I just wanted to start chronicling all of our great times together. Today was a pretty good day, but it started in a rush. Mackenzie came to our room in the middle of the night and stayed up from about 12:30 to 3:30 tossing and turning in the bed. Usually, we have a birthday celebration on the mornings of each family members' birthday where everyone sings and eats chocolate cake for breakfast. This morning, my poor husband tried to wake me up for the celebration, but I asked if I could sleep a little more. Kendall and Jordan sang him "Happy Birthday" while Mack, the twins and I all slept....poor Jim. Mack and I woke up at 8:50, ten minutes before her school. We rushed around, got dressed, I changed the twins and we raced off. We made it to school by 9:30. The rest of the day I spent looking for presents for Jim.

We went to Salt Grass for Jim's birthday dinner. It was really fun, and the girls were very excited about Jim's birthday. They each gave him their presents....Dollar Spot at Target had some " The Office" stuff. Jim loves "The Office"...never understood it!!
